How To Edge: Masturbation Edging Technique For Premature Ejaculation

how to edge masturbation edging techniques to last longer

One of the most anticlimactic endings to any sexual encounter with a romantic partner is finishing before things really get started.

Unfortunately, premature ejaculation is something that many men across the world deal with when it comes to sex. It has been estimated that premature ejaculation occurs in approximately 30-40% of men at some point in their lifetime.

It can be quite embarrassing, frustrating and anxiety inducing to try and have sex with someone only to reach an orgasm with bare minimum physical contact.

Sometimes, this can be the result of nervousness and anxiety due to inexperience or other factors.

Other times, it can be caused by a seemingly unrelated medical condition that inhibits your ability to maintain an erection for a significant amount of time before ejaculating.

Before discussing several premature ejaculation (PE) treatment options, such as medications and behavioral therapy, let’s begin by discussing common masturbation edging techniques that will help you gain some control over your ejaculation as well as the ability to delay it.

What is Premature Ejaculation?

According to the World Health Organization, premature ejaculation is defined as “the persistent or recurrent ejaculation with minimal stimulation before, on or shortly after penetration and before the person wishes it, over which the sufferer has little or no voluntary control which causes the sufferer and / or his partner bother or distress”.

On average, a study found that the average time for vaginal sex was 5.4 minutes

Naturally, many men with premature ejaculation suffer to last longer than a few minutes before reaching orgasm.

What Causes Premature Ejaculation?

There are many premature ejaculation myths and realities to be aware of. It has been established that there are a number of factors which need to be considered when identifying the cause of premature ejaculation.

These are typically physical, chemical or psychological in nature and depending on the cause, the treatment plan will vary accordingly.

Physical or Chemical Causes of Premature Ejaculation:

  • Inexperience that is associated with an extremely sensitive penis
  • Side effects from certain drugs
  • Low dopamine and/or serotonin levels that affect a man’s sexual desire and ability to delay an orgasm
  • Hormonal imbalances such as irregular prolactin, thyroid stimulating hormone, oxytocin or luteinizing hormone levels

Psychological Causes of Premature Ejaculation:

  • Stress
  • Depression
  • Emotional immaturity or inexperience
  • Anxiety and panic disorders, as sexual performance anxiety has been linked with high levels of nervousness and stress that induces premature ejaculation

How to Edge During Masturbation: 4 Popular Methods

how to edge yourself and does edging penis work

Typically, in the majority of mild and sometimes moderate cases of premature ejaculation, behavioral therapy is implemented with a variety of edging techniques to increase the time between arousal and orgasm.

Before we proceed to these techniques on how to edge, we need to understand the principle behind edging.

Essentially, to edge would be to engage in sexual activities to the point of reaching orgasm but halting all activities and not ejaculating.

When practiced regularly, it enables a man to gain some control over his pelvic floor muscles, a greater understanding of the feelings associated with intercourse and his penis as well as the ability to physically prolong an orgasm.

According to the American Urological Association, it is highly recommended to practice edging at least 3 times per week until you gain noticeable results.

1. Edging Technique: Start and Stop

The most fundamental edging technique is quite basic in nature.

A man would be required to engage in masturbation in a preferably lubed state until he is about to ejaculate.

As he is about to orgasm, he simply has to stop by letting go of his penis and waiting until the urge to ejaculate subsides.

Thereafter, he would resume masturbating and repeating the cycle for the duration of time he would ideally like to last.

Alternatively, his partner could partake in the masturbation process with the intent to stop before climaxing.

However, it is advisable to communicate effectively with a partner to prevent overstimulation of the penis until ejacualtion.

2. Edging Technique: Squeeze Before Climaxing

Another popular and effective technique for edging during masturbation requires you to use a squeeze technique to prevent oneself from ejaculating.

To properly execute this technique, it would be required to stimulate the penis until the point of climaxing.

As the semen rises, the individual is required to stop masturbating by squeezing on the head of the penis.

Halt any movements other than squeezing for at least 10 – 30 seconds until the urge to ejaculate subsides.

Much like the technique above, it is recommended to practice this squeeze before climaxing technique a handful of times per week.

3. Edging Technique: Slow and Gentle

As most men would know, the more you masturbate, the more accustomed the penis gets to being stimulated hard and fast.

A simple edging technique would be to slow down one’s stroke to the point of prolonging an erection but not reaching a climax.

Additionally, opt for a light or gentle squeeze when masturbating as this will reduce the sensation enough to build up a tolerance to touch and stimulation.

Doing this should help in finding the right pressure and stroke during sex to remain hard for longer while delaying an orgasm.

4. Edging Technique: Ballooning

Unlike the techniques mentioned above that focuses on the penis as a whole, ballooning is a technique designed to help men understand the most sensitive points of their penis and how to control simulation to the point of preventing premature ejaculation.

To balloon, you would locate the most sensitive portion of the penis and use two of your fingers to circle and massage that point.

Once erect, continue working that area until you are close to ejaculation.

Stop and repeat these steps continuously. By doing this, you will gain a greater understanding of how your body works as well as the ability to slow down the rate at which you reach orgasm.
